Transistor kills the radio star?

"A rádio é infinitamente adaptável"

mas - ao contrário do que muitos pensam - isso não se deve, na opinião desta autora, à tecnologia:

"Despite challenges from other media, radio continues to be popular because of its ability to adapt to changes. Technological determinists might claim that the changes are due to advances in technology like stereo broadcasting, the transistor radio and the use of FM and digital frequencies for better-quality sound. But a closer examination of these technological developments shows that most were available long before they were applied" (Fleming, 2002: 25).

Ou seja, "'radio's ability to survive in a competitive media environment has always depended  0n how well broadcasters tap into social, cultural and technological change" (Stephen Barnard, 2000: 17 apud Fleming, 2002: 25)
