Downloads pagos estão a ser investigados

O Ministério Público dos EUA está a investigar as editoras (e a sua ligação ao iTunes) por suspeitas de concertação de preços (os famos $0.99):

"New York Attorney General Puts Microscope on Paid Downloads

New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer is now shifting his focus from payola to paid downloads. Most recently, Warner Music Group confirmed a probe into the matter. "As part of an industry-wide investigation concerning pricing of digital music downloads, we received a subpoena from Attorney General Spitzer’s office as disclosed in our public filings. We are cooperating fully with the inquiry," WMG spokesman Will Tanous confirmed to Reuters just before Christmas. Labels EMI, Sony BMG, and Universal Music Group have also reportedly received similar subpoenas. The investigation comes ahead of a licensing renewal with Apple, which had been viewed as an opportunity for labels to raise the 99-cent “sweet spot” download rate."
