Uma vitória para a indústria digital de música: o Grokster fechou!

Como se pode ler na própria página, o Grokster deixou de permitir a partilha ilegal de ficheiros (peer to peer). É mais uma decisão judicial, ganha pelas editoras. A empresa vai passar para o negocio pago de transferência de ficheiros.

Mas como diz o Digital Music News, ainda há muito para fazer: “The development is hardly unexpected, and Grokster was likely to face a harsh lower court review. But getting “shut down” is a relative term in the P2P world, as existing clients will continue to exist without any involvement from the company. Even so, the move is mostly unimportant to the P2P file-sharing community, which has largely abandoned the Grokster application. Moving forward, the RIAA is putting the heat on several other P2Ps, including Limewire, eDonkey, and BearShare."

Enquanto isso, prossegue o esforço de consolidação do negocio da musica digital: “Starting today, an album of Lennon’s work called Working Class Hero will be available on Rhapsody, Napster, Yahoo and various other stores. Apple will not have the catalog, probably because of a protracted legal dispute with Beatles label Apple Corps.”
