A concentração empresarial

(nos EUA):

«Once upon a time, radio was a mom-and-pop industry, thanks in part to federal regulations that prohibited companies from owning more than one FM and one AM station in a market. Then came the 1996 Telecommunications Act, which allowed ownership groups to own up to eight stations per market.

Corporations quickly scooped up station after station, creating the mega-owners such as Clear Channel Communications and Infinity Broadcasting. Today, Clear Channel owns close to 1,200 stations around the country. The next closest competitor is Cumulus at 303. »
